why does it have to be a secret if your family from your world shows up? wouldn't it just be weird but standard weird for this place?

Most of my relatives don't know that she's my mother. I didn't know why that was a big deal until I got here, but essentially the issue is her mother is very overprotective and has already engulfed the mortal world in a century long winter just because she doesn't know where Persephone is. It's likely that she would take the answer rather badly.

That sounds kinda extreme, though I guess I would be worried too in her situation.
Still I get it and would keep it secret.
