It doesn't matter that a mysterious village appeared out of nowhere and the inhabitants raised ghosts and attempted to sacrifice people a month ago. They still had exams in less than two weeks.
Not that Rowan himself suffered any notable trauma from the event, but it still wasn't fair. What if he had? What if he'd been injured or someone he cared about had been hurt?
Maybe he's just cranky because he does not like psychology and he has to take a test in psychology first thing on the 9th.
"I'm going to fail," he groans, dropping his face into the open spread of his textbook.
He and Caleb are in the library, but in a corner away from others, their little table just big enough for them. Rowan has snacks but no coffee and he's wondering if now is the time to pick up a vice, even if they do nothing for him. Just something to distract him from his impending doom.
"It doesn't even matter," he reasons, face pressed against the pages. "But I don't actually want to fail."
